  • I don't know if there is proper passing etiquette. But try and think of the person your passing as yourself, would you rather be passed by the buttocks or the crotch area?
  • My funny little theory... if you are a man and are passing someone in tight quaters, always pass with your rear facing their face because if you were to accidently trip and fall onto them it wouldn't be misread as sexual-it would just be seen that you are a klutz. now if you are a woman, like I am, I am sure you can do it either way, but when I am going past a man I alwyas go front facing them because I dont want them to look at my butt.
  • I believe you should pass with your rear facing the person you are passing, firstly for sexual tension reasons, second like said before in case you trip, as you are more likely not to land on the person you are passing. I always look at the persons face and say excuse me before i pass, excusing my self for invading their personal space and for having to look at my back.
  • If you are anything over average height, you will have to stand and, often, move out of the way for the person to pass in front of your seat. If you are on an aeroplane, moving out of the way is just about a certainty if you legs extend past the edge of the seat. Having people trying to clamber over me or through me before I have a chance to move is both irritating and painful, because of my disabilities. Since the person is standing up or to the side, it makes no difference which way you are facing. But if you apologize to them for the inconvenience, it works much better if you are facing them and they can hear you speak, rather than listening to a mumble from the back of someone's head.
  • I have never in my long life seen a person pass front first on bus, airplane, or ship. For a woman to pass front facing the seated person seems like a comeon. For a man to pass front facing shows that he is rude and boorish.
