  • Who cares? Didn't you hear? Voting hasn't counted since 2000
  • No, it's good to have some rules like that, it keeps everyone and everything honest and above board.
  • Yes, a good president could be from any country.
  • HELL NO! The president should be a legal born US citizen as it has always been! And whoever is running for president should show a legal BC before they can start campaigning.
  • There was a reason that the requirement was originally put in place. I would say that until we have a equivalent to a mandatory voting requirement, like some other countries, we probably ought to leave things the way they are.
  • The electoral college elects the president not the popular vote.I want cousin Arnold the terminator
  • the native born requirement needs to be abolished. one should be an american citizen but the circumstances of ones birth are no more under their control than the color of their skin. how is that requirement any different than having a gender or race requirement? I am not a fan of obama, but he is my president and I support him even if his birth cirtificate says he exited the womb on foreign soil (I do not know if that claim is true or not, but in my book it is not important enough to find out). that does not have any bearing on who he is today.
  • No. We do not want a foreigner to hold office. Their loyalty would always be in question. A person can not have two masters. being a US citizen is not enough to ensure one wont commit treason while in office. It is for the national security of the USA that we have that requirement, and it should not and likely WILL not be abolished.
  • Like many parts of the Constitution, that requirement echoes the society of centuries ago and should be updated to fit the fact that society has changed. If nothing else, people travel quite a bit more than they used to back when those laws were written. I mean, John McCain wasn't born in the US either if you want to get technical or unless you want to get into legal hair-splitting. I believe that the requirements about being 35 years of age and spending at least 14 of those years in the United States should remain in place though.
  • no and thats just dumb. the american people dont always knows whats best i.e. george bush was the worst president ever???? if you werent born here why would you be able to be in charge???
  • Obama was born in Hawaii. Did you know that McCain was born in the Panama Canal Zone? At the time it was a US territory but it's a foreign country now. I voted for McCain, knowing this. I don't have a problem with this or that law. Things do change. But this law will probably remain intact as it should.
  • There would be no questions if Obama simply provided a valid U.S. birth certificate as he should have during his campaign. If it's not important to the U.S. people that their leader be native-born, amend the Constitution accordingly. If it's important, then enforce it. After all, the President takes an oath to uphold the Constitution. I don't care what % voted for him, if he's not a native -born citizen, He's not qualified to run.
