I say this in text messaging. Saying "gotta go", to me, is just a buildup to saying "goodbye".

Nope. I turn it around and say, "Well, I'll let you go." It makes it seem like I'm doing them a favor since they're such busy people. I learned that while living in Nashville filled with almost painfully polite people.

Well, it depends on to who I´m talking with. Like my parents, I wouldnt say "Hey mum Gotta go"Hah :P I would say it to my friends or somethin :P
