I am having a light brownish discharge, Im 16 years old, and i am taking birth control, i have been for about 3-4 months and have never had this happen before. No i havnt been sexually active either. So is this brownish discharge something of concern?

It could be a cause for concern. Ask your doctor to check for Endometriosis and PCOS. I ALWAYS suggest the asker brings these two key points up in their visits when they are having menstrual issues, because a lot of doctors won't even think to look.

If the brown discharge was accompanied by slimy mucous,then you were probably ovulating. The timing is right - woman normally ovulate two weeks before the start of their next period. As for the brown discharge, it is probably just a bit of old blood left over from you last period being cleared out. It is normal. Brown vaginal discharge, especially if it happened around ovulation time- it is almost 100% due to ovulation. This is because vaginal brown discharge could indicate infection or early pregnancy. So, if I exclude all these reasons- I'm pretty sure that it is from ovulation. Of course, you should practice safe sex to be sure that isn’t caused by early pregnancy.
