  • Zero, unless your accidently getting on the freeway this way was due to a police car or ambulance. There are so many signs I don't think they would believe anything else. +2
  • Slight, it is always best to try though. I've managed to get fines reduced dramatically with a valid/reasonable story.
  • no win for you.just pay your bail and be more careful next time getting on the freeway. maybe you can find a better onramp. there is a big push to give drivers tickets...to get money for the city treasuries.
  • Not much. It really doesnt matter to them why you were in the carpool lane, just that you were there and wasnt suppossed to be. A better tactic, would be to challenge the ticket, and hope the officer doesnt show up, because they are probably just gonna ignore the fact that you couldnt get out, by claiming you should not have been in the carpool lane. Most traffic courts arent very understanding, and seldomly logical either.
  • If you are like most of the judges I have come across all they will be looking at is the fact that you were not supposed to be there in the first place, accident or not. I know it is not really fair, but they are only in it for the money they can get from you and in this case they can.
  • Minimual chance at wining. Does not hurt to give it a shot though. Accident or not...if it happened it happened as far as the court is concerned. There is nothing the court acknowledges for doing something re: a traffic violation and not meaning to.
  • Depends....How ATTRACTIVE are you? In this hypocritical world where one is SUPPOSED to be "innocent until proven guilty", while at the SAME time required to PROVE your innocence--to keep from being guilty, I'd say your chances rest on your attractiveness!!! Good luck!
  • Probably not very good. If this is your first offense, maybe you can get a lawyer to represent you and he can have it reduced to a lesser charge. I don't know if points will go against your license or not, but if they will; you may want to hire a lawyer to help you so your insurance premiums don't go way up. They give tickets like that mainly for the revenue and may accept something less if you get the right attorney to do the talking for you. Also, ask around and see if anyone you know has been in a similar situation and used an attorney so you can talk to one that's done that sort of thing before. Good luck.
