Linux and its free software is the best because anybody can contribute to it.

Yes. The "many eyes" approach tends to produce much better code, so you have increased security, stability with bug fixes and improvements coming much faster than closed source, propitiatory software. Open Source software also tends to have less restrictive licencing, so you don't have to worry about licence keys and if you can install it on your second computer.
