Start from the beginning. Write about the details you remember most, and your thoughts on them now. After you have a few chapters written, maybe outline the rest and start looking for people to edit it -- and looking for publishers.

You don't mention your age, but the very BEST way to begin your autobiography, is to keep a daily diary of all of your experiences. Write EVERYTHING down that you think is "significant" in your life for a particular day, and years later, that daily diary (or, "journal") becomes the source for your book, and helps you to recall incidents in your past with far greater clarity and detail. Perhaps you might wish to rent/purchase the movie shown, to get an idea of what I mean. +5

You start by writing the book... Then begins the long, annoying process of trying to find someone to publish it and then you realize how they are all a pack of pretensious literary snobs that only strive for an un natural form of perfection that only highly educated people can produce... then you self publish and shop your book to all of the major stores yourself and it becomes a screaming success anyway... They they all come knocking on your door for the rights to publication and you are famous and smug!
