I don't believe so. Keep in mind that even though "they" are called Hispanics and Chicanos, "they" are still Caucasians, as far as anthropology is concerned, meaning that they are white, also. +5

What amazes me is that I heard more about Dick Cheney and the CIA today on channels like MSNBC and CNN than the conformation hearings Fox was the only channel that was really covering it. Are they trying to distract the public?

No! It is however racist to think you can do something better than another person because your skin color is different. Hey now that I think about it Hitler had the same assumption didn't he?!

I've never seen anything to suggest she is. But this confirmation process, so far seems slower than those under Bush, so "fast-tracked" seems like a funny choice of words.

If a Conservative would have said the things she said no matter his or her skin color they would have been forced to withdraw.

Sotomayor isn't so much a racist as somebody who over-values and over-extends her own identity. As a judge, and certainly as a justice, she should have been professionally distancing herself from her ethnic identity. The problem is that she's been getting cozier with it, and its racist elements (La Raza).
