Because women are constantly bombarded by images in the media of who and what they are supposed to strive to look like. We're meant to buy into all the advertisements that promise us thicker lashes, clearer skin, longer hair - basically what society tells us will all lead up to what everyone wants: a better life. Women are constantly pressured to compare themselves to airbrushed, heavily made up and professionally stylized models who are wearing thousand dollar designer clothes and jewelery and to ask ourselves why don't WE look like that? Then they offer us the answer in whatever product they're pushing that costs a fortune and doesn't work, thus reinforcing the belief that there must be something fundamentally wrong with us if we don't have the shiniest hair or the most desirable figure. We're taught from a very young age to be pretty and attractive - that quest never ends, and media and clothing and cosmetics companies have been fueling our eating disorders and feelings of self-loathing for years to make money.

And yet we wonder why women tend to hate other women... Men KNOW they are competitive in nature, and rather than focus on that, they would rather focus on women... We live in a society where women feel the need to give men what they want, and our society capitalizes on it by giving women a message that they have to look a certain way, act a certain way and be a certain way in order to find men they want... The unfortunate thing is that men don;t help the matter by accepting women for who they really are, rather we tend to drive this fallacy home by demanind certain looks, acts, etc... Just my opinion
