because they worked at a job/profession long enough to earn a pension (retirement) that covers today's living expenses and were smart enough to pay their house off and save some money. Or they won the lottery and don't have to work. Or some rich uncle died and left them all his money. Or their kids are supporting them. Or they are old.

I took early retirement from my job because I had enough years service to walk away with a full monthly pension and a golden handshake.Since I have finished work I feel less stressed out.They say that every year of early retirement adds two years to your life.I got this information from somebody who's doctor had told him so.
