Help answer this question below.
Oh yes, you definely can drink too much coffee. And is more dangerous than most people think.
Heavy coffee drinkers usually do it because of its stimulant effects, among them keep them awake and more aware, which is "very good" when you will work or study overnight. The bad thing is that because of these stimulating effects, a work or study overload can trigger a nervous breakdown.
Why? Because caffeine will accelerate your heart beat and hyper-activate yourself....so in short any overload of the system during high levels of consumption can start a series of unfortunate things such as insomnia, over-stress, arrhythmia, etc which can ultimately lead to a heart attack.
Of course you can, but because of the caffeine-shock you'll get from that it's almost as dangerous as drinking too much alcohol. And if the police catches you while driving a car with a coffein shock you'll be in te same trouble as driving drunk. After drinking too much coffee (also cola and red bull contain coffein and other stimulating substances) your heartbeat will fasten enormously, so the risk of heartattacks is increasing; your pupils will widen so you can be dazzeled ( for example by other cars) a lot easier; you'll become kind of hyperactive, but although you might feel wide awake your concentration will decrease. So: DON'T DRINK TOO MUCH COFFEE!!!
Coffee will not kill you. Drink up. Studies show coffee can actually be good for you.
These sites explain how coffee is actually better for you than the other answers are telling:
this one is obviously a little biased but still informative

This is one of the more specific info I found

And just for good measure here is an independent site Webmd

Thanks for your time and enjoy
Forced drinking of too much (clean) water at once will kill you. But can you die from drinking to much coffee, No! The volume of liquid stops you first. You would have to extract the stimulant from 20 cups and inject all at once into your vanes to cause death. But that would be the case with most things. Note that caffeine pills and coffee are are not equal. The coffee has its own flavors and oils that go into the body.
Yes. You can drink too much coffee.
In the beginning coffee acts as a stimulant, but when consuming excessive amounts you will tire and feel drained and as you consume more, your system will become more depressed. A little note: many minerals get washed out of the system with coffee and also one can dehydrate. Drink a lot of water after a coffee binge to help get your system back on top.
Many stimulants, when consumed in excess, produce an opposite type effect.
Actually, many poisonous substances have a similar effect. That is, very small quantities act as a stimulant, while larger doses depress the system. Ritalin is one such substance.
I think so. I get the Jitters. My brother named his coffee shoppe that "Jitters" cute!
You better believe it! I've done it quite a few times. It feels aweful.
As defined the word "too" means more than enough; in this context than the answer is yes. Since I do not drink it - any would be more than enough. If others cannot sleep because they drank several cups right before bed; they may well say they overindulged and a whole slew of other possible different reasons. You as in me - yes. You as in people in general I would surmise -yes. This reads like maybe I had too much of something.
Sure I do.
No, but I am hyper as it is.
Me personally , I get the jitters and can clean my house and 2 others with the energy I get. I keep it down to Arabic coffee or Sumatra for morning. Maybe one after dinner. But only if I go out to dinner.
yes, and I've had to go to the hospital because of that. I wasn't about to breath right
Well, sure. You can do ANYTHING too much.
It is perfeable to drink a suitable amount of coffee as too much coffee will cause some palpitations and anxiety
so, suitable amount of coffee will boost your metabolism , elevate your mood with no harmful . do not forget to add skimmed milk to make much more healthy
People's reponse to coffee depends on the amount they drink and their physiology. Coffee is no better nor any worse than many other things we consume. It is certainly less damaging than consuming alcohol to excess, but no where near as safe as potable water.
Almost anything in excess is bad for your health. Some people simply cannot tolerate any caffeine from any source, coffee or not. Coffee also has other ingredients that disagree with some people. If you are one of these, such as my wife and myself (to a lesser extent), no caffeine from any source is acceptable.
As for the rest: moderation.
Note: The organization COSIC, mentioned on one poster's answer, is an industry organization with a vested interest in promoting the product - a poor choice to 'prove' the safety of the product.
YES, you can. However, it's virtually impossible to drink enough to get yourself seriously injured, because you would experience its irritating effects on your digestive system long before you ingest a seriously toxic dose, provided you don't have any previous life-threatening cardiovascular or liver disease.
Yes!!!!! At some point you have to drink water. More then 6 cups a day...and this is why I am still awake:)
No. I'm still alive :-)
Most people say it's dangerous to drink it too much but in general, it's all right.
( ATTENTION )
Make sure that you don't drink it before you sleep, which you can hardly sleep well enough.
Caffeinism is horrible:
• Can possibly include(but not limited to) severe headaches, extreme irritability, an inability to concentrate, irregular heart beats, nausea and terrible stomach aches.
• Doses of over 750 mg (7 cups of coffee) can cause -
Previous symptoms along with reactions similar to an anxiety attack, delirium, drowsiness, ringing ears, diarrhea, vomiting, light flashes, difficulty breathing, and convulsions(extreme overdose).

too much of anything is bad
Me personally? No. : )
Coffee affects my liver badly if i drink more than 6 cups a day.
Probably, but the definition of "too much" is a matter of debate.
Dave Foley (actor/comedian of NewsRadio and The Kids In The Hall) drinks as many as 50 cups a day when working, but somehow manages to remain alive.

ALL I GOTTA SAY IS: Anyone who HAS drank too much coffee, and is a hardcore coffee abuser like myself, will say YES. I have drank 3+ cups of dark roast coffee everyday for about 6 years straight, and right now I am on day 3 of caffeine withdrawal. Boy I can tell you, it ain't good for you to drink too much. Especially if you drink a dark roast like myself. The caffeine will increase your blood pressure ridiculously. My BP is now 158/98, how about that. I have heart palpitations that are very uncomfortable, and like the guy in the first reply said, it feels like I'm around the corner from a heart attack. If you saw me, you would laugh and never think I have high blood pressure. I am 6'1 and have the physique of a marine. I used to do nothing but drink cup after cup, pot after pot, of coffee. If you don't watch what you eat and have a high sodium diet, watch out especially. Throw on a coffee addiction with that and you've got a case of heart disease. My warning can't be strong enough.

Insufficient? Are you serious? Geez, I hate seeing these kind of bad ratings for good answers.
