I do not think one is superior nor mutually exclusive of the other. Faith is not some blind hope that we have. It is obtained, or should be through reason. Reason is our ability to discern. I determined my answer through inductive and deductive reason.

To me, reason trumps faith any time. Given consistent evidence, reason can only come up with one answer. Faith can come up with opposite answers: there is no obvious difference between faith that Jehovah is Lord than faith that Satan is Lord - or Zeus, Thor, Allah... Reason says that, since there is no concrete evidence for any Lord, no-one is Lord.

I think both but in my case first came the Faith. I just knew inside you know in my knower. I think I am a great discerner of things too. But I try not to go by feelings they can lie and had too many mishaps with that. That is how I just knew about God. I did see results from prayer and that took faith. So I guess Faith first.

Reason. There are over a billion Muslims and two billion Christians, each and every one of them have a faith in their religion. Only through Reason do we accomplish the miracles of modern technology. No one has ever prayed a working airplane into existence. Faith is blind.

The ability to have faith requires an expansion of the mind, not a narrowing of it. To be able to grasp the reality of something that is not tangible to the five senses, is actually a sign of superior thinking. An animal can grasp things by the senses alone, only humans have the capability to reason and believe in God. It's an amazing thing - faith, it requires the abilty to reason. To answer the question, both faith and reason are in the same category, not opposing ones.

Reason is superior in everyday events. The car is broke, how will it get fixed, by faith or by using reason and taking action. Sometimes it helps to throw a little faith in there too. True faith is based on reason. Other than that it is just superstition. I recognize the power of spiritual things and have witnessed things that are very hard to explain. It takes a lot of faith to believe in God, considering we haven't physically seen Him or heard Him. But there is evidence of His existence whether one wants to accept it or not. Those who don't accept it try to reason God away. People who don't believe in God have no faith. They believe in other things, but those things will eventually be proven wrong, and their belief will have to change. I have witnessed many spiritual things. For instance, there are different spiritual influences that bring about the diversity in different cultures. No doubt about it. There is power in prayer. There is power in music. There is power in speech to motivate. There is power in art, love, hate, greed, anger, and compassion. These things are all spiritual. The hardest thing to understand about religion is that so many people have some kind of faith even though they have different belief systems. There are many factions and sects in Christianity alone. Most people follow traditions and not the Bible, yet they have faith. Very hard to explain. Although faith goes beyond the tangible, it will have more power if it is based on reason. It is a sad thing to witness someone pray their sick child to death. There is wisdom in knowledge. There is no wisdom in superstition. True power comes from the principals and standards that are laid down in the Bible when properly applied. I determined my answer from life, having seen clouds from both sides. A cloud is a cloud though the perspective may change.
