Some people look great in everything. Others look unfashionable in anything. Dark green shirt looks good with blue jeans.

That depends greatly on the exact hues of blue and green. This morning I'm wearing a pale, sage-green shirt with a pair of very dark blue slacks. I think it looks good. If the shades of green and blue were different, perhaps "brighter," I think it might be pushing your "peacock" effect. Of course, this is for guys. Women get to wear all sorts of outrageous things and no one bats an eye. ;)
