On AB, do good questions and answers continue to accumulate more points over time, or are points mostly collected through the constant input of new information?

I find I get many points through both ways, but mainly on new Q&A.

I've seen it happen both ways. Some people ask tons of questions and once in awhile, only one question will have a great response. I don't ask lots of questions and haven't really hit it big with just one--but I still enjoy AB. After all, what am I going to do with the points?
