  • If you do not have a "volume" knob seperate from the "gain" knob, you're gonna have to get real loud in order to achieve high gain levels. The tone knobs settings are a matter of preference. I recommend buying a Gain pedal from your local shop. Sorry, wish I had better news.
  • You need one more knob that some amps have but yours doesn't. It would be called "volume" or "master." Then to get the sound you describe, you would turn the gain knob up high and the master volume knob set lower. You might be able to trade this amp for a similar amp that does what you want. Ask your music store, check with a friend, or put an ad on Craig's list. I had a nice 10 watt Crate amp that has the sound you want. I would have traded you, but I just gave the amp to a friend. You can also get a distortion or overdrive pedal to get the sound. Some popular pedals are the Ibanez Tube Screamer, Pro-Co Rat, or Electro-Harmonix Big Muff. There are over 100 more pedals in all price ranges that you can add to your amp to get this sound. You can even keep the pedal and use it with a bigger amp if you want something larger in the future.
