  • Actually, studies have shown that pretty much everyone dreams in black and white sometimes. It's just that some people never notice details like that, or never dream in black and white during their last dream cycle before they wake up, so they don't remember. We actually have several dreams a night, progressively longer, as we go through REM cycles. We usually only remember the last dream we have before we wake up.
  • i dont know why but i do know that people who dont have a tv are more likely to dream in black and white
  • I have heard that it may mean a reduced imagination, but I don't believe this, so I went searching and found this, which I found really interesting... Historically, no one ever believed dreams were in black and white. In fact, it wasn't until the late 1950s and early 1960s that the question came to be debated. The cause? People were beginning to watch a lot of black and white television in those days, and this made their dreams, on occasion, mimic the black and white worlds that people were seeing on their TVs at night. The answer to your question, accordingly, is tricky. All people dream in color. The truth is that we only recently began to dream in black and white—after we saw, for the first time, what a "black and white" world would look like. Think about it. If you'd never seen black and white movies and photographs and TV shows, it would be pretty hard to imagine what a "black and white" world would look like. For example, if you lived in the 1850s, and if someone asked you whether you dreamed in color or black and white—the question wouldn't make sense. You'd ask them: "What on Earth do you mean by dreaming in black and white?" Because the only world we knew back then was in full living color. http://www.dreamdoctor.com/teen/schoolproject.shtml hope this helps.
  • Why do people dream at all? And coherently at that. A strange phenomenon. I suspect all dreams are in color, it is just that they haven't left a strong impression of the color being significant. It is the theme that is remembered.
  • I have read that if you have a dream in black and white, it can signify that you are experiencing a lack of enjoyment or think that your life is dull. It is also common for people suffering from depression to dream in black and white.
  • I'm a very happy person and i always sleep in black and white. my whole life, of what i can remember, i have. And I never really watch black and white shows or movies. maybe once every 2 years i do. It might be because i overlook color in my dreams or i just remember them on a grey scale but i don't see how every single dream i have i overlook the color or just remember them on a grey scale. Also all the deja vu I have i remember seeing it before but always in black and white.
  • I've always heard that people that dream in color are more creative and imaginative. I'm not sure how true that is, but ALL my dreams have very vivid colors! Good question!
  • I have been researching this questions going on for about 6-7 years now after I had my very first black and white dream. I lived with my dad & visited my mother on the weekends since they had a divorce. One weekend, on a Saturday night, I dreamed that my step-mother's dog had died. The dream was black and white and it wasn't any normal dream, it looked like it was filmed with a very old camera, like the very first movies ever made where you can see the lines in the film but no sound. When I went home that Sunday night, I walked in the door, took two feet & asked my step-mother when Bandit had died. She told me that it was around midnight on Saturday....when I was asleep. From the books I've read, everyone has black & white dreams & they are in fact psychic dreams. Not very many people remember any or most of them & when we don't remember them & the dream then becomes reality, deja-vu sets in (the feeling where you feel as if you have done what you're doing once before or if you have been in the place before when you never have). Further research has led me to discover that everyone does dream in black & white, but you don't realize it because you see things that are familiar, so your mind sets in the color. EX.-grass is green, skies are blue, blood is red. But, some people will dream & something in your image isn't colored correctly & the scientists have come to believe that you're gifted in some sort of way because your mind doesn't work like others. Like for instance, I have dreamed that after Thanksgiving, I went into the fridge & got out a can of whipped cream & squirted something in my mouth. I even tasted this horrible nasty taste & spit it out & the whipped cream was purple. Most people wouldve dreamed of it being white. As far as being gifted in some way, well, I was in all advanced classes in high school, played the trumpet & piano, made straight A's in college, and I am actually a "seer" or "sensitive to the paranormal world". I know most people are sketchy about that, but this is all 100% true, or at least to my knowledge. :]
