Budget reform. At this point our national debt interest is swallowing us whole. The debt must be eliminated, it can no longer be tolerated. . .
-
Social Security because my generation will be the first generation to suffer if it's not fixed. And it is one of the things that is relatively easy to do.

The welfare system. It is abused and over used. Some states have already begun making changes, but the work needs to continue. You know the old saying about giving a man a fish or teaching him to fish (I'd say it, but I'd probably get it wrong, but you get the idea). Countries should not just keep giving hand outs. No one prospers.

though i'am not american i do study the politics of your nation. The reform i belive to be of importance in the "line item veto act" which states that a bill brought to congress can be dismissed on the grounds that it was not signed by your president within 10 days of its first reading.although this act was not brought into law by george w it has given him much power. canada and the united states both share this great land north america, and in many ways are the same. But i'am no politician,in the light of what hapernd 6 years ago your president has enacted, and vetoed laws that give to much power to one individual namely the office that he represests.

Illegal Immigration. The flood of undocumented people coming into the country is causing so many problems. The schools and hospitals are overburdened, there canot be any real national security if anyone can easily access the country, and diseases like drug tolerant tuberculosis and hepatitis are rising to epidemic levels in some areas since diseased people are not being stopped at the border. The issue needs to be taken care of, and half measures or amnesty bills are not going to work.
-
Stop trying to usurp the position of the United Nations. Why? Because they are not the United Nations, they are just the United States.
-
Stopping the illegal invasion, secure the borders.
-
Illegal Immigration; because it affects so many things, the health care industry, education, Prison overpopulation, drug trafficking, disease control, etc. stc.....
-
The Constitution. There are many things in concrete that shouldn't be. Most important would be gun law. Only LEOs and ranchers actually need to own a gun. Shooters can leave their guns at the gun club. This is important because so many people die unnecessarily from gun stupidity.

I think that taking better care of our working poor should be a priority. Those that are able and willing to work deserve at least enough medical care to remain productive, housing, food, heat, and (of needed) child care. Capitalists may say that "handouts" like that are bad and remove all incentive to succeed in America, but look at it this way. Most of the uber-rich are rich because somebody bought goods/services from them. If we have no money to buy heating oil, how can oil executives get profit from us proles?
