  • Since it is likely the caffeine in Coca Cola that you are actually addicted to, you could try cutting back gradually. If you go "cold turkey" you are likely to suffer some minor withdrawal symptoms. The worst one being the killer headaches (IMHO). Just start cutting back a little everyday until you are "cured" :)
  • It's more likely to be a sugar addiction than a caffeine addiction, given the relative amounts (yes, it is certainly possible to have a sugar addiction). Your best bet for that is simply to stop, and in fact stop as much sugar in your diet as is physically possible. I have to take myself off a sugar addiction every so often, and I find that quitting cold turkey, the cravings last 1-2 weeks, but if I resist sugary foods for that long that I simply stop wanting them.
  • Coca cola is addicting. my wife and i were drinking several a day and realized that either the sugar or the caffeine, was creating a craving condition. we searched and searched for a replacement and discovered that coca cola diet, caffeine-free was the perfect choice. it tastes like a regular coke, has no caffeine and the carbonation lasts a long time. try it, you'll like it.
  • first you go to the methadone of soft drinks Pepsi. Then you move to the habit to 7-up, then to ginger ale. cured
  • I do not recommend this without checking with your doctor. I have been drinking Coca Cola for at least 20 years at anywhere between 6-12 cans per day. I was like a drug addict getting up in the middle of the night just to get my "Fix." I just recently started taking a drug called topamax to prevent my life long migraines. Not even after four days of taking this, I to went to drink a Coke. I almost puked because it tasted so nasty. I thought I had a bad batch of Coke. I then tried another can and it had the same nasty taste. I thought I was going crazy. Later, I looked up the side effects of topamax on a health website. It stated that many people stated that carbonated beverages tasted really bad. It really does make it taste so bad, that I am actually cured of my Coke addiction. I do not know if you can get a doctor to give this to you for this reason, but I'll tell you that I have kicked that habbit and losing weight at the same time.
  • Donate the money that you spend on Coca-Cola to a good cause like a charity. Or you can even invest in the Coca cola stock and make you some money!
  • Put the can down! Jk I'm not sure, one gets a real rush from the bubbly carbonation, the sweetness...feels perfect sometimes. Its best to just stop and see what happens. I think you do have to be careful, not to turn an addiction into another addiction though. A friend of mine wanted to quit smoking cigarettes, ended up smoking cigars! He asked, "This isn't cheating is it?" Ha Ha
  • Start buying coke with lime. That stuff is nasty. If you make yourself only buy those, you will get over it fast.
  • Cut down slowly.
  • Quit drinking it
  • There is no method to stop addictions. The solution is with you only. Just make up your mind and "Stop it".
  • I went through this many years ago I was drinking 9 to 10 litres a day ...in the end all I did was cut down on my daily consumption ...one day at a time, its no joke and it IS a real addiction and has as many nasty side effects as ciggies or heroin... don't laugh its so true ...remember one day at a time one less can or bottle per day and at the end of it you will feel great ... better skin, teeth, hair, ...no headaches, runny shit when you go to the loo, sleep becomes easier and so many other things .... good luck!
  • Get on Topamax. You will not be able to drink one. Plus, you can lose some weight too. Bonus!! GL!
  • My husband switched to coke zero. He still drinks a lot, but he's not ingesting all that sugar.

  • Start by cutting down or switching a few of those sodas to caffeine free and then step off of those little by little. It will make the process easier and more successful.
  • I would suggest cutting down, but it wont be easy! depends too on how much you drink per day?
  • Switch to root beer.
  • Well if you find out try and find me a way to get over a Dr. Pepper addiction. LOL
  • Start collecting and then you can't open them , I have over 1500 coca-cola collectibles now and haven't drank a soda pop in over 10 years
  • talk to someone who works for the company that doesn't have stock in the company and they will tell you things about the process that will turn you away from cokes so fast, it may make your head spin.
  • I switched to Pepsi a long time ago. I drink so much of it my pee fizzes. lol
  • I had a 6-7 year addiction to Coca Cola. A week ago I began drinking Concord Grape juice by Welch's. I have not even had the urge to drink a Coke. (My nerves are so much calmer.)
  • Switch to Pepsi. Just kidding. Are you addicted to the sugar or caffeine?
  • Your question is a telling one. I myself have a significant battle trying to stay away from coca cola. What I reccomend is moving to somewhere where the price of coke is very expensive. I for example recently started working somewhere where the price is subsidised and its very, very cheap, so I am drinking an unspeakable amount of it at right now. If you make it such that it is prohibitively priced, it adds a more real incentive not to buy it, since the purchase would negatively affect you right now as opposed to the vague health reasons that are so easy to ignore.
  • I'm in the same boat as you. But...Totally addicted to DIET Coke. I don't drink any other variety of soft drink at all. I don't drink energy drinks but rarely, and I very much dislike coffee. If I can't have Diet Coke specifically, I won't drink it and will have water. I just love the taste SOOOOo much better! I know its terrible for you, but it is just damn hard to stop drinking it. I try to drink one cup of water for every cup of pop I drink...Don't know if that will help you any, though. Water I slam down, pop I sip on, though it really should be the opposite way.
  • I have been drinking approx 2 litres of coke a day and after last night I had had enough i spent the whole night rushing to the toilet.this happens to me about once a week and i know its the coke because i managed to stop for 2 weeks before and it all stopped, but i was getting awful mood swings, headaches etc. i have started drinking fruit drinks - 100 percent fruit juice which taste better and contain no sugar. (good sugar tho) DIET COKE IS EVEN WORSE!! although there is no sugar there is aspartemane (cant spell it) which i am told is really bad and that im better of drinking coke (10 sugar cubes per can) Whole earth prganic coke is better for you still bad but better.
  • I have had a life long Coke Addiction. I have tried many times and have not been able to beat it. I know it is destructive but seem powerless to its sweet cola goodness. Please help me with what ever tips you have tried to quit. Thanks
  • Switch to another soda or coffee to help quit.
