How would the World Government represent it's constituents? How would the government be chosen, elected, evaluated, etc?

Eugenics would reappear.

Total loss of freedoms. Our meager wealth divided among nations that have never done much to advance themselves.

A dramatic increase in the power and scope of law-writers and a horrifying decrease in their accountability to the governed.

Little or no local control. I would much prefer that the locals be in control of their own affairs. Even American government today is too involved in local matters.

Well, people would have a chance to become much more powerful, which is generally never a good thing. If something were to go wrong, it would be inescapable. Having a single government for the entire world would be a very difficult thing to handle, even in this age of communication. It is almost a certainty that it would not be a government for the good of the people, even though that's what governments are supposed to be.

Nothing at all is wrong with it. I think our Chinese overlords would be very easy with the Americans, as long as we stay home where we belong, and let our teen age children join the military.

No waring governments, being able to go wherever you want to go and work in the world. All one currency so the elimination of transversion costs, no tariffs or barriers for trade. Unification of the human race. World piece. A pipe dream though. Could never work.

The same reason that a large powerful federal government in the US is bad. It shuts down different "experiments" in social organization, education, and political theory. One sure way to make sure nothing ever changes is to eliminate the opportunity for change. A working example-after the fall of Rome, the Catholic church served as the European "world government" They call this period the Dark Ages, and that is not just because it was the church. It was not until the revolutionary spirit of the Reformation that Europe woke up. That is what a world government would do.
