If that indeed is so, it's because they've been trying to get rid of the Jews for a long time and Nazism provided the perfect opportunity. You'll notice how they cooperated with the Russian Orthodox church under the Tsars - the word 'pogrom' comes from Russian.

the catholic church has been notoriously anti semitic throughout their history. their siding with the nazis and russia in their attacks on the jews is just par for the course. mel gibson is a fine example of the church's outlook on the jews ;)

In the Catholic Church, I've never heard term "dissfellowship" used. I think you are writing about excommunication. Hitler excommunicated himself from the Catholic Church by his beliefs. The Catholic Church does not nor has it ever taught hatred or genocide. He believed in both. Hitler's excommunication was what the Church calls "latae sententiae" at first. There may have been a formal excommunication later on, but I don't know. In any case, he separated himself from the Body of Christ by a formal act of his will. Today, Catholics that materially participate in abortion incur the same penalty of latae sententiae excommunication. Pope Pius XII condemned Hitler's actions in several encyclicals and provided refuge to Jewish refugees inside the Vatican. Although Hitler was raised in a Catholic family, he turned away from Christianity at an early age. Automatic excommunication happens when Catholics commit certain offensives. This happens as soon as the offense is committed. Adolf Hitler committed the following offenses resulting in automatic excommunication: - Apostasy - the formal renunciation of one's religion. Hitler specifically rejected the Catholic Church, as well as Christianity in general. He described himself as "a complete pagan.” - Heresy - a doctrine in theology, religion, philosophy, or politics at variance with those of the Catholic Church. Nazism is definitely heretical to Christianity. There was no reason for the Catholic Church to excommunicate Hitler. He did it all by himself. Hitlers Mother is supposed to have been a practising catholic although his father was lapsed. Hitler himself never took part in the religion after comfirmation which he was forced by his mother to go through. Even so the Church was very slack in not excommunicating him. Although a man as evil as he could not really have cared. His Mother although outwardly a practising Catholic is actually said to have been of Jewish stock. Which would make what he did even more evil.

Hitler was definitely a Catholic. He confided this to one of his Nazi officers in 1941. It wasn't until the Final Solution got underway that the Vatican started harboring Jewish refugees. On the other hand, if the Catholic Church hadn't started anti-Semitism 1900 years earlier, Jews would have never perished in the Holocaust, or any earlier attempts to exterminate them. The Catholics were behind it all. Also, there has never been any evidence that Hitler or any of his ancestors were ever Jewish, only speculation thereof because Hitler did such a great job of protecting his family's records from public scrutiny. Eventually, those records were uncovered but produced no evidence of anyone being Jewish. To this day, the theory remains unproven. All I can say is thank God I'm not a Catholic! I don't think I could live with myself.

So Hitler lied, offering a treaty pledging total freedom for the Catholic church, asking only that the church pledge loyalty to the civil government and emphasize citizens’ patriotic duties — principles which sounded a lot like what the church already promoted.
