In 2010 we plan on traveling to Italy. Now what are some must sees while over there, when is the best season to go?

    My bf told me that being in Venice was like walking into a postcard. Sounds great, but those gondola prices are about $400-$500...save up for that romantic interlude! :)

    Of course, one has to see the big cities such as Rome, Florence and Venice. Milan is ok if you ask me. I love Italy and suggest that if you have the time take a train that starts way up north where the alps are, you would probably love it. Maybe stop at Lake Como. Also, Cinque Terre at the seaside is gorgeous. Vatican City is quiet beautiful as well. Maybe Pompeii and Vesuvius. Keep in mind that if you go during the summer months there will be more tourists in Italy than Italians. Also, no airconditioning.
