  • i think they come here to make $$$, the reason is the us is a much wealthier country than Mexico so they make $ here and send it back to ppl in Mexico to survive. well thats what i think anyways.
  • No, just closer and better economically than mexico right now. When the recession was at its peak many were returning to mexico. Many immigrants come here, work for 3-8 years, then go back to mexico to retire. If there were a neighboring country with work but a better currency than the dollar, they would go there instead. Having lived there myself for a couple of years there are quite a few things I like better about Mexico than I do about the U.S..........
  • theres a giant shithole seperating them from canada. once they pass it, they're in paradise
  • No, it only "proves" that Mexico shares a border with the US, and many Mexicans feel it offers them more hope than their own country. If you choose one of only two countries given as a choice it proves nothing in a world of hundreds of countries.
  • Because they can!
  • This is where the jobs are. If the Mexican gov't wasn't so corrupt, they could have an economy as good as, or even stronger than, ours. But it's easier to run away from your problems than to face and fix them.
  • To get a well-paid job. There aren't so many jobs in Mexico. +4
  • The most common factor is that they need money. Mexico's economy is crap. They come over here, work, make money, and then send it back to mexico. That essentially degrades our economy. Another reason is that many of them are violent criminals trying to escape the mexican police. They come over here and then they kill people and rob businesses here in America, that is a primary reason why we don't want them here. If they didn't have to go through a bunch of time consuming bureaucratic bullshit to become a citizen in the US, then I bet 90% of them would be LEGAL immigrants.
  • My brother in law is a border patrol of the New Mexico/Mexico border and he says most come with they're family and it almost brings tears to his eyes, but in other cases some come with drugs who are usually associated with a gang based on the identical tattoos he's seen. He was threatened, cut, and even spit on before. He had to perform some lethal actions and cqc sometimes! :-o
  • Because after a few years working here they can be rich back home.
  • Because America is a better for living ?
  • Well, lets start by being clear that many people crossing the border with Mexico aren't Mexicans. Many come overland from Central or even South America. But unless they want to get a boat, Mexico is where they are going to cross. I've met folks from Ecuador, Guatemala and Honduras who crossed the Mexican/U.S. border. Many were fleeing bad economic conditions, drug gangs and bad government. Nevertheless, as big as this country is, we can't take in every person in the world who lives in bad conditions. There just isn't enough room or enough jobs for all of them. That would involve moving most of Asia, Africa and South and Central America onto this continent and it just can't be done. Better that we work to try to help them improve their own countries and their own conditions so that they can do well at home. Trying to let them all come here is like trying to adopt every stray cat in town. You can give a good home to a few of them, but when you adopt 100 cats, it is no longer a good home for any of them. No matter how hard you work, the house will always be filthy, the litter pans always full, the house overcrowded and you'll be online begging for help with the costs. You just can't give a good home to that many. It is the same way with immigration. There is a point where you can no longer offer a good home.
  • Same reason your ancestors move to another country.A better life, A better job, Safer?
