Yup! I am European. My children will try alcohol, in small amounts, watered down on special occasions whilst they are still children and I will not have a problem with them drinking alcohol more frequently as teenagers. I don't want to make alcohol a taboo or glamourise it. In fact, I am pretty sure that it is legal for children to consume alcohol at home from the age of 5 over here. Of course that is in teeny tiny amounts.

Nope.
-
Yes, when they are old enough and it is a special occasion.
-
Yep. Keeping it taboo is a factor in alcohol abuse in teens, in my opinion.
-
Yes. when they in High school, they will probably start drinking anyways without me "letting" them or not. I rather teach them how to drink wisely.
-
yeah there going to do it any way so might as well let them do it supervised.

The United States has so many restrictions on everything, this is one of them that I agree with to an extent. On special occassions - example: A wedding toast, A small amount of wine is acceptable. However, I do not purchase or allow him alcohol otherwise. I strongly believe the more 'bad' we make something the more it is desired.
