When it is true, it makes me angry and frustrated. When it is not true, it makes me sad.
-
It's oversimplified. Racism, not white people are the cause of such problems.
-
That kind of thinking is partially why there is still such hate. I think we need to just accept each other and don't blame each other for our own failures or shortcomings.

You know this one is kind of hard to answer because being black myself I kind of feel where they are coming from from a mental standpoint and then I look at the grand scheme of things. The reality is America is still a very unequal country to POOR PEOPLE OF ALL COLORS. the judicary systems is ass backwards, and really think about it. Blacks in the inner city don't have money to make things happens like anyone outside of the innercities. So when we talk about poor vs. I guess living normal and above since America is still a segeragted country in a way Cultural battles usaully =racial battles since the inner cities is stacked with blacks and suburbs are stacked with majority whites.Blacks being in a rough finaical spot when they go to the hosipital because they are poorer they are short changed, they go to school short changed, they have a child go to court for a crime and then anyone with money have their kid go to jail for the same crime and most like the inner city kid will get a harsher sentence so short changed. The thing is those in a lower social status position always look at the force who runs the envoirment, city, country, etc they live in for answers to why there is so much plight. Just think for a minute. Most judges, and cops blacks feel short change them are white. Most doctor, either white/foriegn who they feel short changed, the government who really short changes everybody for the most part is white. So in the mind of those at the bottoms they look at those running things and say since it's majority white they say I guess this is how all whites feel. So the solution to this form of a racial barrier is hard to really say how you change it and open eyes on both sides. You have one group saying move on get passed and another group saying whatever. Where is the common ground between those two groups who do feel this way? When I think of the question harder and harder I even asked where is the common ground that can be found between those from the innercity and those out of it? And don't forget to throw in the media who plays with everyone heart strings

It isn't only the white people...every ethnic group has a scapegoat..no one escapes it. Some groups are vilified more than others, but the "white man" doesn't have a lock on prejudice. In southern California we have occasional riots on high school campuses between Blacks and Latinos..they hate each other. Why? I have no idea. You would think that people who suffer discrimination would be the last people to discriminate against others, wouldn't you? That's not how it works unfortunately. Happy Monday to you!

For the most part, I think that's old thinking. I've heard people say that the goverment or media keeps the [enter race] down, and that I could agree with.
-
People keep themselves down.......IT DON'T MATTER IF YOUR BLACK OR WHITE...........stop looking for excuses and look in the mirror..........

I think it sucks the very life out of you to think it and is demotivating. Whether it's true or not it is something that you cannot control, but you CAN control your own actions. It's the same bad thinking as "men keep women down" so there's no point in trying. I'd avoid thinking any defeatist thoughts and instead pay attention to the things I can control - get an education, get experience, get exposed to as many places and people and situations as possible. This is what will make you successful and make the whole premise false.
-
Sad that they need to deflect their shortcomings on the race that helps them the most.
-
That thinking is destructive. Whether or not someone of whatever ethnicity IS being discriminated against (it is not just blacks and not only done by whites), dwelling on it rather than working to fix the problem and/or benefit themselves is counterproductive. All that thinking is going to do is breed anger and waste energy that could be better spent.

It is an exuse for some people to not to live to their full ablilty. Racism will always excite but each person has the power to prove their sterotype wrong. It is true in someways socially they way people treat one another, but in the end a rich black person is a lot better off than a poor white person.

I think that that comment is so annoying when I hear it. Yes there are some white people who dont like blacks but there is also alot of blacks who dont like other blacks and asians who dont like this race and so on and so on. What happened to the african americans during the time when we had slaves was horrible. But they are not the only ones who have been in slavery and I feel like they use that as an excuse to why they are not doing well in life. In africa they still have slavery, rebels invade villages and put people into slavery and chop womens breast off so they cant feed there children. After Pearl harbor the japanese people were put in internment camps. Their money and belongings where taken and they were stuck in these camps where they worked for barely enough money and starved to death. Then after they were thrown out on the street with nothign left. The Nazis killied MILLIONS of jews. My point is that there are horribel things that happen to groups of people but you shouldnt blame your race or how people feel about you affect your drive to succeed. I have been racely made fun of since I was little but I will never let that keep me down. You just have to keep going after you dream.

I think it's a b.s. excuse personally. I just saw this t-shirt on somebody the other day and it cracked me up. I had to share it after reading this question. Hope it makes you laugh too. It was obviously a joke.
