I guess yes, in terms of a definition of irony. of course I know where you are coming from. But ssues stand at the forefront of those decisions, such as : the requirement for fuel for humanity both from the forrests and from minerals from the ground, building materials again, both from the forrests and from minerals from the ground. In fact, I believe Australia is one the global leaders with its extensive mining, and rich supply of iron ores and such like that are causing vast areas of your country to be exhumed. In turn, providing an ecomomy that is in part bolstered during this time of global economic downturn....:) until man kind comes up with other options for the provisions of fuel/ building materials, this issue will continue. or maybe, other otpions are available, but are being withheld for various reasons............ Have you ever googled water as an alternative engine fuel?

Well I really don't think it is irony as much as greed. If there is a demand for it..then there has to be supply. And when we all start to conserve a little less and stop building houses and houses and wood floors for the new houses..and oak cabinets! Then maybe precious forests will not be bothered anymore! I serious doubt it though
