Well, you should definitely see a doctor about that, butting going four days without a cigarette is actually going to make your cough worse as your lungs try to start clearing themselves out and begin to heal.

4 days is too soon. You can expect to go a week or so before it will feel better. Hang in there, best of luck.

Way to go! You will feel tons better after your lungs heal!! Since it started before you quit, you might want to check with a Dr if the cough persists after 7 days or gets worse. gargle with warm salt water and drink warm/hot tea or water to sooth.

seeing a doctor will reassure you that everything is ok, and give you the confidence to keep away from the cigs. You will feel much better in a short while, and you will be amazed at how much further your pay packet will go.

Like Auntie Em said, your cough will become worse before it's better. Also, four days won't bring immediate results. You need to work on your fitness and lung capacity. Go and see a doctor and get them to help monitor your progress. And congratulations for stopping smoking - it may be an up and down thing - you may go back to smoking but hey, you've taken the first step and you know you can stop for at least four days! So kudos to you.

UPDATE: I've stopped smoking permanently now and the cough is gone. I feel great and I've actually lost weight instead of gained as is believed. I have more energy and stamina. Now all I want is a man to share that with. For all those out there who want to stop smoking but believe they can't, I was given an ultimatum by my personal physician, "Either continue smoking and live with asthma, or stop and hopefully the cough will go away." I chose the latter and the cough DID go away and I feel reborn again! (No church required Ha!)
