  • I don't have the anxiety, I think it's quite fun. But if I did, I would get some gum, pop on a set of headphones, and jam with myself. +2
  • I feel severe anxiety during the entire trip, just getting in the plane. My dr. gives me pills to take, and I do take them. If we hit turbulance I bite pieces of them too. I am positive something is breaking off the thing. I'm not good at all in the air:(
  • No, I don't experience anxiety taking off or landing. I'm very used to. Plus I get so comsumed in my reading and I loose sense of time.
  • My two favourite parts of an airtrip! I don't book non-stops to do each more than once! ;-)
  • I never use to, however, I use to be cabin crew and as crew we were trained about all the bad things that can happen on take-off and landing and how to deal with each situation, so many things can go wrong when the plane is doing these manoeuvres, so now when I fly I sit there convincing myself that something is going happen on the take-off and landing, I really hate flying now.
  • I feel fine the whole flight.I realized the chances of something going wrong is about the same as winning a million dollar lottery 10 times in a row.
  • No, I just take a deep breath and relax =)
  • Its the turbulents that bother me. Ladies and Gentlemen, please fasten your seatbelts while we go through these turboleants. Sometimes, the jet drops a thouand feet and I wonder if I am going to survive. Lightning took out that French Airliner. They are supposed to fly above the storms. I feel blessed when I get off any air passenger vehicle.
  • Yes I do. I can take my anti anxiety an hour before I board and still am scared. By the time my stomach and nerves settle down it's time to land and the process starts all over again. However flying is still the best way to go and often the cheapest especially if you are talking about spending 10-12 hours on the highway because the more tired a driver is, the greater chance of an accident.
  • Since my career required that I travel constantly, mostly by plane, I never developed a fear of flying. In fact, I've always loved flying. In general, I don't get anxious over that which I have little or no control. That applies to everything in my life. And, by the way, I've had a number of what they would call "near misses", including a flight, booked but cancelled, that crash and where all on board were killed. Another flight I took crashed on its next leg. What most "amused" me was the take off and landing of more than one flight of Catholic countries...Alitalia (Italy) and Iberian (Spain), where well over 50% of the passengers did the sign of the cross as we took off and landed. Yo, flight attendant, please, just make sure I've had a drink just before goin' up...'n comin' down....OK? Whatever the Good Lord wills. I'm ready...whenever. :-) +5
  • No. I've traveled lots of miles and lots of flights in light single and twin engine planes. I ridden in the co-pilot seat many times. I know the things that are going on in both landings and take-offs. However, when we landed on an icy runway with a cross wind, I could also feel the plane skidding sideways. A couple of quick heartbeats there.
  • Those two parts of the trip are the most exciting. It is a rush and almost orgasmic. Well, maybe not that good, but awesome. I don't understand the fear, but I do sympathize with it. There are things I fear but others don't.
  • Yes...but I'm good at convincing myself so I tell myself...with the hundreds of take-offs and landings happening today what makes my flight so special that something odd will happen. Now it starts to feel like a roller-coaster ride.
  • Two vodka and orange juice 30 minutes before flight takeoff time.
  • NO. Should I not have answered this then?
  • I've only flown once in my life (twice if you count that it was a round-trip)and yeah, I was as nervous as could be. I would fly again but if you can get there by car or train, I'll choose that instead!
  • I am absolutely mortified.....I hate flying....I had a panic attack for the first time on a plane heading back from CA to GA....It was aweful to have an attack while on a flight!!! That was the first time.
  • I dont. But then again i love flying, and i am actually a certified Private pilot. Sometimes i do get a bit nervous, but only because im not in control of the plane. I just usually try to think to my self about how well trained these pilots are, and how much experience they have had. Heck it took me 2 years to get my license immaging how much experience these pilots must have to fly passengers?
  • I would usually only have a bit of anxiety if the FAA was also in the cockpit watching me fly. I kept calm as I was well trained with thousands of hours, and there is so much system redundancy that risk is very minimal. Not quite the answer you were expecting?
  • No, I never feel that way, but in case I did, then I will just take a deep breath and relax. The best way to keep calm is to read some books, magazines or by laying back on your seat while listening to good music on your ipod, walkman or etc.
  • No I don't. I feel more afraid when getting into a car. With all those crazy people on the roads it's more probable that something will actually happen there. You can try reading a lot of science papers on plane crashes and probabilities and believe it.
  • heck, I was disappointed in my flights, I wanted some turbulance. I like to have fun and anything that unnatural is fun. my only anxiety is needles puncturing my veins... and as a human guinneapig I have to supress that... I just think of the money each needle poke earns me... in my last study each poke was about $75... 30 seconds of blood draw is much better than 10 hours operating a grocery store cash regester
