Help answer this question below.
Sure, scream away. Would you believe I know that but on occasion I use "your" thinking I've written "you're". It isn't that I fail to know the difference it's simply that my brain and fingers sometimes are out of whack and only later when I've gotten a response to an answer do I notice I screwed up. Sorry. But there ya have it! Sometimes the truth gets ugly! Happy Monday! :) (9hugs))
Yes, you can and I will join you. Its is not the same as it's; they're is not their or there; to is not the same as too. The meaning is totally changed. If it is important enough to write, it is important enough to write correctly.
Scream louder, I can't here you.
You may scream it, but they won't care. Maybe if some of us continue to point out such things, the degradation of the English language can be slowed.
Go ahead. That drives me nuts too!
Scream away, those that do it will never stop. It bugs me, too, but I usually never say anything because it does no good. I've seen that and much worse here. The other thing that drives me batty are the folks that type everything in "text speak" all of the time. It's very hard to read. But, again, if you say anything, they just ignore it.
Go for it. You're well within your rights to do so. :) It bugs me too.
I'm weird(Compulsive perfectionists)with my grammer, but I don't criticize others on their own.I can usually tell what they mean by adding common sense to my thought process.:) *+++++*
If you'd like. Not that your going to change anything.
how does "y'all" fit in here better or worse...+5.
Bad grammar pisses me off so much - Especially when people are really arrogant about it and accuse you of being like a teacher when you correct them. I know typos happen but it's AWFUL!!!
So, scream all you like, I'll scream with you.
aaaargh!!
YOUR starting to sound like my second grade teacher.
Their They're. Deal with it, or blame it on the Spell Checker.
You can scream it but what harm does shortening a word do to anyone if anything it slows done carparl tunnel syndrome! Or as you goal to get us all cts?!
You can scream until you are blue in the face and people will STILL get it wrong!! It drives me batty too!
WooHoooooooooo!! I gets ta be da dif'rent one =D I teach ya da roight way, it aint "your", "you'll", "you're", etc.. nah, its "yule", "yur", "ya'r", etc. An dont let ne body tell ya ne dif'rents LMAO =]
Agree. Here are my big peeves when it comes to grammar and spelling:
1) "coz" or "cuz" instead of "because"
2) "can" used instead of "may"
3) all the various forms of the word "pregnant"
4) "to" used instead of "too" when " too" is used to mean "also"
5) text message abbreviations( AB is not a text message, and that crap is annoying)
You're right! You're means. . . . . .you are! People confuse it. . . . . .A LOT!
Let's add that their does not equal they're
You may scream to you're heart's content but yore not going to find satisfaction because language changes and has since days of you're.
.
Besides, they're both spelled ur. :)
Scream away. Your question is a very good one but you're probably not going to make the person who keeps making this mistake change overnight. :) (notice the your/you're)
If you want, but frankly i couldnt care less!!
It is disturbing to the mind, as the words don't make sense. hate it.
does it matter?
Don't you mean "May I..."?
Many of us have certain errors that especially irk: I hate "if it was" for "if it were" & I seem to see & hear "pom poms" all the time when the person means "pom pons" & not guns that shoot exploding shells.
Only if you let me scream with you... along with two, to & too!!! AAAAAAAA!

You're reading Can I scream that "your" DOES NOT equal "you're"? I think I'm going batty! :p

I've been guilty of the "mindless typo" before, but I had a secretary once, graduated in the top 10% of her business school class, who did not know the difference between do, due, and dew. There were others, but frustrating sometimes doesn't really describe the feeling..........
