Why, for many decades, has the American government spent more per capita on the health care of prisoners than that of Native Americans in Reservations?

good question..and more on illegal aliens in America too ,most likely... prisoners should be earning their keep...not having it handed to them and many cases, much better than the ones WHO PAY FOR IT..;)

Because prisoners are used for extortion money you know pay up or we release them on you type of thing of course they call it TAXES also why pay back for what you have borrowed when you don't have to I mean really do you really think the rest of the world cares about any native peoples on this side of the pond, you really need to look at the real history ... ~Nemo~

Because the federal central government still believes only a dead Indian is a good Indian. That may sound corny but it is probably close to the truth.

Oy... Being of Native American decent myself, I often hate questions like this... I can't usually keep my answers as nice and unoffensive as I want them to be... I'll start off with illegal aliens since someone mentioned it... Funny how our founding fathers were technically illegal aliens themselves... Even back then you needed permission to cross borders legally. Indians were peaceful, usually. If someone came into your house and tried to take it, wouldn't you fight for it? They were herded like cattle and raped, robbed, and murdered. They are a part of this country's history, and they are a dying culture, but they are fighting to keep their culture alive. The government doesn't want to help them because they get nothing for doing it... It's pretty damn heartless... ... Did that answer your question?

Maybe because the democrate party was in control of the congress for 40 years before Ronald Reagan? Just asking here. They dumped all the Nat. Am's onto reservations to better forget about you? Prisoners have more rights than Nat. Am's? There are more of them than there are Nat. Am's? Regardless of what democrates say, what they do is what matters. And, they don't seem to do much except make sure they are re-elected. This will get this question going. But it's only my opinion.

Basically because prisoners are the government's responsibility. The very idea of a reservation is that it's not land controlled by the U.S. government, and has been granted to the traditional government of American Indians, ergo it is a sovereign region, ergo the government has no obligation to spend anything there. Now, if an Indian were to be thrown into prison, then they would have a reason to spend more money on them.
