This condition occurs most commonly in domesticated animals, especially ruminants and certain dog breeds.

Yes, as I am one human who has this condition, and it is quite painful at times. There is preventative surgery that will attach the stomach to the abdominal cavity, and it is quite painful with six weeks of turning a feeding tube three times a day to form scar tissue to adhere the stomach to the abdominal cavity. It has been over five years, and my stomach still insists on twisting ans spasming, and it still is quite painful, but I am able to live my life and eat fairly normal foods. I still vomit regularly, and have lost my back teeth to the gastric reflux from this disorder. Be happy you don't have this. After every meal, my stomach bloats, and I get gassy. Doesn't matter if it's baby food, or steak. So, I try to eat soft foods. Smaller meals help with the pain.
