1) Yes. 2) Because Republicans exist.
-
Yes. So Republicans can look good grunting and beating their chests.

You're exactly correct. We can't 'save the world' without saving ourselves first... These foriegn policies, which there are no differences from liberal and republican, will destroy us. We can't afford it, it makes the enemy stronger, and is itself a threat to our liberties and national security. This is done so by design. The people in control of our lives at the moment WANT the US and the majority of the world to go bankrupt, so they can offer THEIR sollutions. ... And at the moment, Obama is taking Bush's place as their puppet.

So true!

Because the war machine has always driven the economy.

Ha! Do you really have to ask if military spending is diminishing our ability to take care of our people? You don't see proof of that everywhere, everyday and all around you? Bin laden doesn't want anything. Now, big corporations like KBR, Halliburton, Blackwater, EXXON, Lockheed Martin, they are the ones that want us and make us to be at war, they stand to gain entirely too much with the rampant warmongering of the US. And don't worry, the US is bleeding itself all the way thru bankruptcy all by their little selves - greed has a way of doing that - they don't need to blame it on anybody else. That will be the true cause of the end of the US empire and, at the rate we're going, it will sooner rather than later. Hallelujah!

Because George Bernard Shaw was right when he said, "If history has taught us anything it's that history has taught us nothing." This is nothing new. This was a factor in the demise of the Roman and British Empires too.

I remember Kanye West during Hurricane Katrina very plainly speaking on national TV. He said "Pres. Bush does not care about black people." I remember the shock I felt. Not at Kanye's words, which were not only true but, well, TRUE. What did shock me was the collective inhale the nation took that somone would dare criticize Bush. He had the nation back then in a psychic headlock where we all trusted him. But he still blew it by showing his true colors the first time the next disaster hit. It took 8 years to oust this piece of cancer from office. Bin Laden is peeing in his pants with joy. We were afraid to speak out and were so thourougly brainwashed by the threats of the extreme right, that we are just now taking a collective breath. We can actually criticze our Leaders again. Give the new movement a bit of a chance. We are coming once more into our own. Our troops are not necesarily doing more usless harm these days. We are there, let's do our best to mend this mess before we hightail it and run.

The wars are already started. We can't pull out now. We made our beds, now it's time to sleep in it. We have to be responsible for the wars we create. We have to suck it up and pull out only when it's the right time.

I am not a US citizen but from the UK. Never the less and though we are not as engaged in military action throughout the world as is the United States I have always believed that each country should take care of their own country and population, invest those large amounts of money in national welfare and let the rest of the world fight it out for themselves. . Regarding bin Laden I don't think he is alive, but if he were he may want whatever which does not at all mean we must do as he says. . Regards.
