  • did this question got cut off, or does it end with, "50 km/s and level off?" ? If you accelerate the ship to 50 km/s and then stop accelerating, yes, it will continue to go 50 km/s indefinitely (or at least until some gravitational force begins to affect it)
  • In a friction-less environment the ship in question would achieve a peak velocity of 50 km/s and stay at that speed forever unless acted upon by an opposing force. (gravity, asteroids, other ships) I'm assuming of course we're speaking of a space shuttle.
  • Look to the cannonball. It will continue at that pace until something else changes its path, speed and direction
