A few questions: 1.) Who is your ISP 2.) What router are you using 3.) What internet type (DSL, cable, T1, etc.)?

If you have to reset it completely, it sounds like your router may be on the fritz. However, if you want to make sure it's the ISP or your modem instead, try hooking up directly to the modem with a CAT5 cable and see if the connection drops then. If you drop service via a hardwired direct connection to your modem then your router is fine and you need to bitch to your ISP. (I assume that you use a modem they gave you and not one you bought.)
