Being a camp counselor can be a great experience if you like kids. Check with your local church. You might also want to check with the blind organizations in your community or the YMCA or YWCA they all run camps during the summer months.

What a wonderful question! There are many organizations that can use a hand. There are of course the kids organizations, but there are some others to check out as well: senior services, Special Olympics, food bank, childrens hospital, crisis clinics, humane society, etc.
