  • Make sure you change the oil every 3,000 miles, change the air filter regularly and check the air pressure in your tires to make sure it is accurate. All three of these things are vital to any vehicle for good gas mileage. I learned this after letting this go for a little too long in my Ford Ranger V-6. The difference after I had the service done was amazing.
  • There are a number of aftermarket things you can do as well as the things listed from the 1st answer. Install a cat-back dual exhaust system which will run $300 from flo-master. This will decrease the pressure resistance of the exhaust and improve gas mileage. Install a cold air intake system which will improve the way your fuel injection system mixes air with the gas and increases gas mileage by more efficeintly burning the gas. There are also new types of spark plugs (E3) that claim to increase fuel efficeincy when the fuel is burned in the cylinders. Your factory installed computer settings can also be altered by purchasing a handheld reprogramming unit specific to your vehicle. Doing this can increase your horsepower considerably which will help gas mileage. Be careful here though as you would have to return the settings to factory before you can take the vehice in to a dealer for service.
