The costs aren't based on the number of visitors or users. Most hosting companies have various plans which give you a certain amount of disk space for holding the files, and a certain amount of transfer. When a page is sent to a browser the size of that file, and the size of any other files that the page requires, is subtracted from your maximum transfer, usually in gigabytes per month. If you live in the US and watch TV you've probably heard of GoDaddy (I don't recommend them, their customer service isn't all that great, but for an example). Their Economy Plan allows you 30 GB of disk space and 300 GB of transfer for $5.58 per month, which goes down to 4.74 per month if you pay three years in advance. http://www.godaddy.com/Hosting/Shared.aspx?ci=9009 That's a lot of space. I have almost a thousand pages on my main site, plus images, code, and other extraneous stuff plus a subdomain with almost 2000 pages plus supporting files, and I'm nowhere near my storage space limits. Unless you put up a site that suddenly hits everybody's hot button and you have hordes of people accessing your site you won't have to worry about transfer limits. Whichever hosting provider you choose go for their cheapest plan. Most newbies overestimate what they'll need, and you can always upgrade if you need more space or transfer size.
