It depends where you live. Don't forget in many parts of the country, if you make $30,000 a year you probably would not be able to get by, then on the other hand $30,000 would be a pretty good wage in other parts of the country. But you have to remember you have to pay all of your taxes from that amount, and if you are renting you might have to pay your utilities, gas, electric, water and sewage etc. You might have a car payment, cell phone payments every month, etc. etc. So I really don't think you can say just a certain amount of money would put you in the middle class. It really depends where you live.
