I had that for 5 years. The doc kept telling me is was allergies, but I knew better from the fluorescent green snot I'd see every time I blew my nose. I finally got a doctor to put me on 1000mg of Cipro for 6 weeks and I haven't had a problem since. It's been years now.

I've suffered with this all my life. I tried three different nose sprays (two were by prescription) and 3 different decongestants. Then I decided it couldn't be sinus/nasal congestion all these times, so I went to be tested for allergies, but it wasn't allergies. The only thing left that would help was the turbinate reduction surgery. I had that done 2 weeks ago, along with a septum straightening. The first 5 days of recovery were miserable. There was a lot of bleeding and headaches, and I wanted so badly to blow my nose because it was full of blood, but I had these big plastic stints stuffed up my nose and I couldn't blow. So I tried to take my mind off the situation by watching a lot of movies and sleeping a lot. After 1 week, I started to feel better. I had the stints removed and the bleeding calmed down. Now at 2 weeks I still have some crap to deal with, but I am no longer uncomfortable, and I sure can breathe a lot better. Now your problems might be caused by something else, only a specialist can tell you what to do. I just wanted to let you know what to expect if you do have to get the surgery. I don't use drugs, but if you do, you might want to stock up for those first 5 days of recovery! It wasn't pleasant, but now that I'm past it, I'm glad I had the surgery (but I still won't recommend it - it's a personal thing)!

Hi GeoTorrent! As an alternative to surgery, there are some steps you can take to reduce the discomfort. You may want to try a Neti Pot for sinus passage irrigation. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8sDIbRAXlg There are also small squeeze bottles with saline solution such as "Ocean" which can be found usually in any pharmacy or drug store and many grocery stores. If you can not get the problem under control, you will likely have to resort to prescription antibiotics to reduce inflammation and control infection. Please don't have the surgery until you try natural remedies! Good Luck!!

I had the surgery. it worked. it was well worth it. The pain is only for a short while and i promise you will breathe like never before.
