Depends on what its use is. For gaming, average memory would be 256mb. Top ends are about 2gigs now if im correct. I have a 500mb card and its considered average since its like 1 year old.

It may have been average 10 years ago, but nowadays 256MB seems to be the average. FYI - Your video card likely cannot even do 2D stuff like Windows or image viewing at any resolution I would consider decent. I run my desktop at 1600x1200 (20" screen) with 32-bit color. I'll wager that you cannot run that high even in Windows. If you have a decent used PC place, you could pick up a better card for $10 while you save for a *real* gaming card. And you can get a damn good card with at least 128MB for well under $100 new if you shop around. Hell, I think I have a couple laying in my junk drawer!
