If you loved hanging out on Answerbag and were strictly against organised religion but then found out that Answerbag was going to be classified as a religion and those using it classified as members, would you leave, or stay and readjust your beliefs?

I would leave. I am suspicious of any organized belief system, whether it's a religion or political party. In such groups, independent thought is ostracized or discouraged, and I would not like that the least little bit. Even if a group claims to be all-inclusive, it slowly but surely becomes another instrument of mob thought. Interesting question.

I think that this question is based on a false presumption. While it can be argued that there is a quasi-religious tone to AB, I think it's hard to really call AB organized, at least in that context. Of course if you consider Discordianism to be an organized religion then that statement falls flat, though whether it's in spite of or because of the inherent oxymoron could be considered a holy war in and of itself. Aw heck, I'd stay just to watch the ensuing chaos!
