I don't think I get this e-mail.
-
I think it's a diplomatic way of saying: "Your question is a duplicate, be more careful next time" At least they're informing you, I don't see anything rude about it. Whether you agree with it being a duplicate or not, that's another story.
-
Yes, how is that good news? If they want to inform you: It should read, "Sorry but you were flagged for a duplicate question. Check this previous question out, it may or may not help you" Much more honest.
-
it isn't rude. its better than receiving email that your Q has been found duplicate and thus rejected this words, Good news, we have found an answer, gives me the satisfaction that they tried to figure out a solution for me.... ! mental solace is better .......
-
Not rude but I certainly don't think I need to get it. But I usually take a quick peek and then delete it. +5

I think they're just "politely" letting you know your question is being "86ed"! Happens to me. . . .a lot!!!
-
Huh?
-
I don't think it's rude, it just aggravates me that the duplicate didn't show up on that list before I submitted it!
-
Those emails royally tick me off. First of all, they are almost always not for a true duplicate. Second of all, the answers to my question are the answers to MY question. I'd rather get an honest email that states, "Unfortunately, there are other answers to this question..." OR - giving us the benefit of the doubt - "DO we have answers to your question? Let us know if these are an exact match" Maybe we can make our point before they get automatically merged together by someone asleep at the wheel of moderation approval.
-
I don't like that message but it's better than "dumbass, use the f@#&ing search next time!"
-
No, don't think it is rude but sometimes I have noticed it is a same question asked in a different manner. I don't normally search previous questions due to time unless it pulls up when I type it in.
-
I have not gotten any emails from AB for about 4 months now. Just another glitch I guess?!
-
I usually don't answer my own questions, but this irks me. I do think "rude" is not the right word, but I find it obnoxious (although I don't think they intend it to be) when I get that e-mail. My immediate reaction is, "Oh, sh*t, a duplicate question!", although they don't always turn out to be (which I find somewhat odd but fine with me). It would be wonderful if they just told you it was a duplicate when you asked it--they do that for some questions! I'm sure answerbag must mean well when they send out those e-mails, but I don't think they're aware of how they may come across. Thanks for letting me vent, guys and gals!

neither, I think it's annoying. They didn't have to send me a personal e-mail, they could have just told me on AB
