by dry out do you mean be useless i have had them in bags for 6 to 8 months before eating them and they been as wild as when i first got them

It depends on how the layer dries it out. If you just leave it out it should take around an hour or so. Some layers (people who dip the acid in paper) are concerned about the acid decomposing in by the air so they might leave it in a sealed container which would take much longer to dry.
