Absolutely not. I would go so far as to say they are diametrically opposed. (And, I might add, I once wrote a ten page philosophy paper to the contrary; so it isn't like this is something I've not given any thought to.)

Absolutely wrong. Science is a method of answering questions about the world. It cannot answer all questions, but it gives very reliable answers to some questions. Religion is a method of answering almost any question through faith in some revelation, which cannot be proved. To those having that faith, the answers of religion are reliable - but to those not sharing it, they are essentially totally unreliable.
