Yes. It does seem that some of us are simply unable to deal with hypotheticals, and that this limitation severely restricts our ability for high-level rational thought.

I'm all for "hypothetical situations" but I still believe they should be based in reality.

The trouble with hypothetical situations is that they are contrived to deal with the composers conception of what a situation is and ignore any factors which might conflict with it, so that the only way they can be answered is by qualifying the answer with some of the other considerations which should be taken into account.
