What would you say is God's role in our world today? If he created everything, why isn't he doing more to help us take care of everyone?

because we should learn to do it our selves, he's not our baby sitter.

because you have to do that yourself. He gave you a brain to use, and a body to use, so thats basically the drill. dont sit and wait for help, learn to offer help

he is doing a lot. It's just that you have to be tuned into his plan to understand. He defeated sin and death by the death of Jesus on the cross, and will end suffering when Jesus returns the second time. This is like the mopping up time after a defeat in a war. Time is given to as many troops of the enemy to surrender before the victors take prisoners. In the meantime there are skirmishes. But all this will end. God has determined a day, and it will come when we least expect it and when everyone who is going to be saved has been. He is taking care of people. He takes care of me. God is more of a figurehead and throughout history has had many representations depending on the society and what time in history you lived. God comes in different forms and under many names.When man came into being he was the first creature endowed with free will and choice.So because of that, we are left to our own devices,without interference from God.

Which God are you referring to? The Christian God of the USA is supposedly so powerful that the God is reference on our currency. My personal God, on the other hand, is about supporting me in my journey through this life. My God is not about spreading democracy to all lands or as you put it, "taking care of everyone". This question needs a religious base or a historical context in order to be answered. I have no idea which God you are referring to.
