I doubt it but there is a theory that the government engineered the deaths of Jimi, Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison to defuse the counter-culture in America.

I'm pretty sure that he ODed. He wasn't very careful about mixing the booze and the hard drugs.

who knows ... and really no one ever will since almost everyone who was around at the time is dead, its also very very easy to make certain claims about something or someone when there is no one else around to dispute them
