Why do we expect 17 & 18 year old kids to know what they will do for a living for the rest of their lives?

Some do, some don't. But you're right, it is unreasonable to have that expectation. I didn't know what I wanted to do until I was 28. But my son knew when he was 16. Go figure.

I dont know.. Just do what you enjoy doing.. But life is hard work... Just try to be positive every day. :)

Hell, I'm 54 and I STILL don't know what I want to do when I grow up.

We shouldn't, we should guide, push, and pay for our kids, set them up for something.
