  • My dad(and mom) is a hero to me.He brought up the family with fairness and dignity. He is in his eighties and with my mother.I feel quite fortunate that are family is still close.
  • My Dad. A decorated Marine with 3 tours in Viet Nam. The only story he won't tell is the one of a picture where a Vietnamese man is holding a severed head in each hand. I'd love to know the story behind that fight. If Dad won't talk about it it must have been some real bad stuff.
  • My father got really drunk one night, as he stumbled home from the bar with one of his friends, he saw some lady getting raped in a car, he opened the door and hit the guy with a full beer, dragged him out of the car, and delivered the best beating a drunk can. I think thats kinda heroic.
  • My grandfather is an amazing marine. He served in Vietnam and moved up to Sargent. He was on a patrol with his unit when the man-on-point stepped on a shrapnel mine which blew my grandfather into the air. He was shot twice in the air and then three more times on the ground. While he was recovering in the field hospital waiting for the air lift they were overrun by Viet-cong and he grabbed a rifle from one of the doctors and fought them off until they were evacuated. The doctor who rebuilt my grandfather also kept him alive during the whole thing. They are both heroes.
  • There was a little 10 year boy that used to live next door to us.His name is Jayden. His family moved to another town 5 miles from us last year. One afternoon while playing in the yard with his best friend Jayden's dog suddenly appeared from behind the house carrying a deer leg in his mouth. For some reason the dog began to attack Jaden's friend. Jaden then ran into the house to tell his mother who came out and threw herself on top of the youngster thinking the dog would leave the boy alone. Instead, the dog began attacking her. Afraid for his mothers safety Jaden went back into the house and came out with a porkchop and threw it to one side hoping the dog would go after it,which he did allowing time for his mother and friend to get into the house. The police were called but were trapped inside their car unable to get out as the dog was attacking their car. After some time the dog ran to the back of the house where police officers had to shoot it. The boys friend had a few bites and bruises but Jaden's Mother required 120 stitches to her face and head and almost lost her ear. If it hadn't been for Jaden's quick thinking it could have been much worse. I believe he was a hero in every sense of the word. I was so proud of him!
  • My uncle is a cop who has protected some kids who were caught in the middle of a shootout between some gangbangers. My dad is a respiratory therapist and I'm pretty sure he has saved a few lives. Same to my grandmother, she is a nurse. My other grandfather served in the army after WWII and did alot of good things for the germans after the war. My mom used to work as a child care specialist for mentally handicapped children, and she helped prevent alot of abuse towards them. My other grandfather is the former CEO of philips electronics, and he is super intelligent and I look up to him greatly.
  • I see my GF as a hero, hard times with her family, my freind Tan is diefinatly a hero, she survived the Bosnian/Serbian war as a child after loosing 3 brothers and her mother.
  • My dad was a British-trained commando (Darby's Rangers, 1st & 3rd Btns) in WWII and escaped from a freight train after he became a POW in Cisterna, Italy. In Korea, he rec'd the silver star & a battlefield officer's commission after some particularly gruesome combat. I've still got the various newspaper articles. [Hard to believe that I actually sprang from his loins!] ;-)
