The dislike is mutual.
-
Something tells me that is a much, much stronger feeling on this side of the pond

Minority on both sides. Alot of muslims im sure after the way they have been treated in the recent decade by the western world to feel some dislike but only a minority actually hate and want to kill them (ofcourse that minority hated before the last decade). Westerners do seem to look down upon muslims and seem to judge them all the same. But again im sure only a minority of westerner actually want to harm muslims.

Muslims do like westerners. The media is concentrating on such a minute percentage that do not like westerners. This percentage would most likely be .0133 of the whole Muslim population. It is more the western governments and the wars that they start that is annoying to them. The issues are not even religious, but cultural with tribal people.

i think people naturally fear/distrust the unfamiliar. i think conservative muslim people feel the West's open and unrestrained society is a threat to the future of their cultural way of life and feel defensive/misunderstood when the traditions and values they hold dear are seen/portrayed in a negative light and i think the opposite is also true. westerners view people who live culturally traditional lives as backward, ignorant, and uneducated. the fact that muslim extremists have behaved in barbaric ways, reinforces the dim view the West takes of traditional people. i think it's a sad misunderstanding on both sides

These are some good resources on this topic. The quick answer is: "We find only limited support for “social” hypotheses that suggest that hostility to the West is predicted by socioeconomic deprivation, youth, and/or being male" http://www.informaworld.com/smpp/content~content=a794312199~db=all~jumptype=rss http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/myths2/Arabattitudes.html

Its definately a minority. I've got a few muslim mates who are every bit as english as I am. The unfortunate thing is that negativity always shouts louder than positivity.
-
It more than general mistrust. It is fostered in the Koran, elimination of "infidels", all those who do not follow Islamic law.
-
The radical Muslims want to drive a wedge between Muslims and all others. Seems like they have accomplished their goal with you. Even wondering if all Muslims dislike Westerners means their tactics work on you!
-
I am a muslim though and I know all about it, we don't hate westerners at all, media just says it all wrong
-
It may be an image problem of a minority.

From what I have seen, radical Muslims do not care for us much which has impacted the rest of Muslims more than it does us. I have heard that, due to the radical Muslims, in some Western countries the normal Muslims actually live in fear. I have been told that the normal Muslims are at threat from the radicals even, not just public opinion being against them. Now, that is hearsay so only take it as such but that is what I have been told. Radical anything does not like anyone but themselves, whatever they are radical in.

Muslims don't hate anybody.Like other community people they too believe in 'Live and let live'.The one thing that irritates Muslims is that they don't want anyones influence/dictatorship in their acts and daily routines. As anybody love his/her freedom so the Muslims....
