absolutely!! i've seen our dogs deliriously happy with big fat smiles on their faces, their laughter is mostly done with their body, wagging, jumping, etc God bless them!

My cats don't laugh but they do smile...I have one that is deaf that sounds like he is saying different words...momma is one...very strange....

I have a really hard time believing some of those dogs aren't smiling--their tails are wagging like crazy at the same time. My Siamese doesn't actually smile in any detectable sense of the word, but if you know her well enough, if you're tuned into the situation at hand, you just KNOW she's smiling inside (i.e., laughing at you).

No, they don't. They can appear to smile and even laugh, which is more than enough for most people. It makes you reconsider how you define happiness. Bright eyes and a wagging tail is often just enough to get you to smile.
